Britta Hope Slayton

On Saturday, Feb. 5th, at 4:32pm, Britta Hope joined our family. She was 7lbs. 13oz, and measured 21.5 in (the hospital measured wrongly at 19.5 in). She has lots of dark hair, as you can see from the pictures, and she looks very much like Anika did when she was a baby! Emily's labor and delivery went very well. She had an epidural so the whole process was wonderful and painless. We were laughing and talking the whole time, and when it came time to push, she only had to push 3 times before Britta was out! Less than 5 minutes of pushing! During the labor, she kept asking me and the midwife, "Am I having a contraction?" She didn't even feel the most painful ones, just some pressure. For us at least, epidurals are the way to go!

We will be moving out of our home where we have lived the last 3 and half years the weekend of March 5th. Our original plan was to move out at the end of March or beginning of April, but when we realized that Peter would be travelling for nearly the entire month of March (while Emily took the girls to stay with her parents), it didn't make sense to stay here. We will be moving into Emily's parents home for the month of March before moving into the new house the beginning of April.
