News for Celebration from Davis
Wazi Clanye-mates,
I am most proud to announce my engagement to Jennifer Beth Barber, and our
wedding on August 14, 1999. It will be a absolutely wazi celebration, and I want to
share with all those who can plot to be there. Please consider this a communal
invitation--the complexities of a wedding are quite a job.
Honestly speaking, I understand there are those of you that I know very well
and others that I did not get as close too. That said, I want you to know that I am
fully understanding if this is not a priority for some of you to come to. I also
understand that chumz (money) is scarce, and that something's are just not possible
for penniless jamaas/didos. Nonetheless, I hold you all very dearly in my heart, and
would love to hear from all of you...Therefore please RSVP.
I am still at a loss as to what to do regarding groomsmen--I have too mob
jamaas that I would be proud to have up there. It is too difficult to decide right
now, so I will do what I do best, and procrastinate the decision until after I have an
idea of who will be there. Therefore, jamaas, if you do plan to be there, make sure
I know so that I can include you in my wedding in whatever way possible.
The wedding will be at Pearl River, New York, at the A.I.M. headquarters
(where Jen's family lives.) There are a couple hotels nearby--from Holiday Inn to
Hilton. The mission may have some rooms available--but we shouldn't count on it.
Otherwise, the compound has mob space to pitch tents and chill--but we are missionary
kids, somehow we will find the cheapest and most comfortable way to do it. Newark
Int'l airport is the closest, but JFK airport is also okay. Pearl River is right on
the border of NY and NJ, right across the Hudson River from New York City. If you
wish to drive, contact me for directions.
Since this is a time of rejoicing (and bringing in the sheaves--yes, Skinner),
I hope that there will be time to hang out, so if you want to come Thursday night and
party as a class on Friday then that would be wazi. I should also mention that if you
have ever wanted to go to New York city, this is the perfect time. Pearl River is
just half an hour away, and it is so easy to go spend a day in the city, (seeing
Broadway shows, going to the UN, to graouw, etc, etc.) It will also be warm and sunny
in the summer--unlike this winter when it was seven degrees Fahrenheit when Jen and I
went in.
I also hope to be seeing many of you this summer in Kenya. I will be going
out in late May, and coming back in late July. Jen will be staying in New York with
her parents to work and plan for the wedding. After we get married we will be going
to Wales where I will be studying at Aberystwyth for the duration of next year.
Besides all that, both Jen and I are doing well. Jen moved to Washington and
now lives about 20 blocks from me. She works in a group home caring for the mentally
disabled. I'm jobbing at school and trying to teach American jamaas how to play
rouge.
Sorry this letter took so long to get out, but I hope you will all be
celebrating with me, whether or not you can attend. Please reply as soon as possible,
even if you aren't absolutely certain, so that we can plan accordingly.
God Bless,
Davis and Jen.
Please RSVP BY 30 APRIL 1999!
